This was the last game of the preparatory camp for both the teams who will be participating in this year’s Subroto Mukherjee tournament in New Delhi, but in different age groups.
A Jitendra Singh-own goal gave the Under-17 school boys the lead at the stroke of half-time in an otherwise lopsided affair where AIFF’s Under-14 boys controlled the game.
In the dying minutes of the match, a free-kick was awarded to the AIFF’s Goa-based Academy boys when striker Shubham Sarangi was tripped just outside the area. Attacking midfielder Abhijit Sarkar stepped up to take the 20-yard free kick and made no mistake in curling it past the goalkeeper in the 61st minute, earning a well deserved draw for the AIFF Under-14 Regional Academy boys.
